My Journey

I went to Malaysia In February 2019. I quickly saw it is very different from any country I have visited in South East Asia. It is a very multicultural country with a lot of the architecture showing this.

I started in Kuala Lumpur. The city was more cosmopolitan than I expected with its sky scrapers, modern shopping malls and sky bars, however it also has contrasting areas with temples and old towns. From here I was able  to visit Melaka which was very different with street art by the river and once again has old Chinese temples.

Moving on to the Cameron Highlands with it's luscious green tea fields, being high up in the mountains I felt a considerable drop in temperature. This quiet and tranquil area is perfect for enjoying trekking, nature and picturesque scenery.

Next was without a doubt my favourite place... Penang. The food here was the best I had in Malaysia. Hunting the street art in Georgetown while seeing locals going about their day to day life shopping and visiting churches, mosques and temples was interesting as there is something new to see around every street corner. The huge temples up in the hills, the quayside, the national parks and isolated beaches are just some of the many places to explore on this island.

Next stop was a quick stopover on the beautiful island of Langkawi visiting the must see Sky Bridge before taking a short boat ride over to koh Lipe (Thailand) to relax after being on the go for a while!
