My Journey

I visited Morocco in November 2016. It was the first place I visited with my new camera. I was still trying to get to grips with it so ended up taking many more photos with my phone as I was more comfortable with that at the time.

Starting in hectic Marrakech I quickly embraced the atmosphere with its buzzing souks, street performers and snake charmers. From here I was able to visit some of the largest and breathtaking waterfalls which was a nice break from the bustling city.

Next was the quieter but charming sea side town of Essaouira. A much more chilled out pace to explore the ports, markets and never ending beaches.

A quick stopover in Casablanca was just enough to be able to visit Hasan II Mosque, the largest in Africa (and 3rd largest in the world). From here I took a train to Fes in order to get lost in the medieval medinas but also seeing the grand golden doorway of the royal palace which was such a drastic contrast.

An absolute must do is to cross the breathtaking Atlas mountains and experience the Sahara desert. Arriving by camel to the campsite I was shocked at the drastic drop in temperature after sunset. Exploring the Zagora and Ouarzazate areas were so interesting and unique.

The last stop was Tangier on the north coast. This port town also offers old medinas but also nature and coastal scenery.
